- Gin Cocktails
November 26, 2015
Named after a man no one quite knows about or is certain of, the Tom Collins cocktail is the only gin-based “Collins” drink, making it as unique as it is delicious. Popular in New York bars to begin with and now, across the whole of Westernized society, this drink can be altered depending on what gin you choose to use as your base, so flavours will vary- make sure that you pick wisely! This is one of those sipping drinks that you would look sophisticated holding at any casino table. We’re thinking Blackjack…
This recipe makes one Tom Collins cocktail.
For this cocktail you will need:
– 1 oz of lemon juice
– 1.5 oz of gin (any gin, the choice is yours)
– 0.5 oz of simple syrup
– Club soda
– Lemon slice (for garnish)
– Maraschino cherry (for garnish)
– A Collins glass
First of all, prepare a Collins glass with some ice- however much you want, it’s a personal choice. Then, add the simple syrup, the lemon juice and the gin to the glass. Stir the liquids up well to blend them smoothly together. Next, pour the Club Soda on top of the mixture and then to finish, wedge your lemon slice on the side of the glass and allow your maraschino cherry to float on the top of the beverage before serving immediately- or enjoy it yourself!
